LIVESTOCK producers have a chance to hear the latest on footrot management when the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) hosts a biosecurity information session in the Mid North in November.

To be fronted by PIRSA’s Senior Animal Health Adviser Chris Van Dissel, the presentation will take place at the Marrabel Town Hall on Friday, November 17th

The session, which will run from 8.00am to 11.30am, will see producers briefed on footrot detection, diagnosis and treatment in their local areas.

Mr Van Dissel has over 15 years’ experience in researching and managing the infectious disease, including a stint studying it up close in rural Nepal where the condition is endemic.

He also inspects up to 58,500 sheep, cattle and pigs a week in his role with PIRSA.

Breakfast will be provided for attendees, who can register their interest or RSVP by contacting Jody at PIRSA’s Nuriootpa office on (08) 8568 6400.
